A Global Month of Service and Commitment to Our Communities

Connection -- it’s what binds our families, unites our society and links our world together. When we connect, we all move forward. During April, Pratt & Whitney employees joined Raytheon Technologies in our first-ever Global Month of Service by participating in the #ConnectUpChallenge: 30 days of employee engagement, volunteerism and philanthropy positively impacting communities across the world.

Our employees are driving meaningful impact in their local communities while making transformational connections with their colleagues and neighbors. Check out how we took on the Connect Up Challenge.

Challenge Accepted!

  • In Canada, we raised money and collected and sorted more than 410 pounds of non-perishable food, directly supporting the local community in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

  • More than 100 employees accepted the Connect Up Challenge and volunteered to donate blood and blood plasma at Pratt & Whitney’s campus in Rzeszów, Poland. Due to COVID-19, there has been an immense need for blood and blood plasma worldwide. During this drive, more than 40 liters of blood and plasma were collected and donated.

  • In China, more than 225 kgs of ocean debris and trash were collected in Shanghai, China with more than 40 employees volunteering their time to clean up the community they live and work in.

  • Employees volunteered to prepare Hartford's Camp Courant for campers to arrive this summer - by landscaping, organizing and packing backpacks. Camp Courant in Connecticut is the oldest and largest free summer day camp in the country.

  • We work closely with Engineers Without Borders to support engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs. Employees applied their engineering backgrounds and skills to prepare 15 community garden beds at KNOX Park in Hartford for community use.

  • Urban League of Greater Hartford strives to reduce economic disparities in our communities through programs, services and educational opportunities. Dozens of employees volunteered to help review resumes and conduct mock interviews to support the personal, professional and civic growth of underserved community members.

Volunteer energy and strategic partnerships enable us to drive lasting, generational impact in our communities. Throughout the year, Pratt & Whitney employees connect talented, purpose-driven people to uplift underserved communities, inspire the next generation workforce, and build a more equitable, prosperous world.
