Preli Talks GoFly on WTIC

Frank Preli, vice president, Propulsion & Materials Technologies, sat down with Ray Dunaway and Joe D’Ambrosio on the “Mornings with Ray Dunaway” show on WTIC 1080 AM in Connecticut to highlight Pratt & Whitney’s sponsorship of the GoFly Final Fly Off competition.

"The GoFly prize really embodies some of the things that are important to us," Preli said. "STEM - science, technology, engineering and math - in education. Also, innovation. We consider ourselves a very innovative company. It really appealed to us that we could reach out to the community in a way that we normally wouldn't."

As a sponsor, judges from Pratt & Whitney awarded the Disruptor Award to teTra Aviation for their unique design concept for a personal flying device. Their design concept encompassed many of the things the judges were looking for in a viable entry.

“If you’re starting to think about a concept that eventually goes to a product, it’s very, very important of course that safety and reliability are key to the design,” Preli said.
