Pratt & Whitney Expands GTF™ Engine MRO Network to Include Delta TechOps
Delta Techops Designated as Overhaul Facility for Pratt & Whitney’s Geared Turbofan Engine
ATLANTA, April 9, 2019 – Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), today affirmed that it will expand its global network of providers that maintain the company’s Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines to include Delta TechOps, the division of Delta Air Lines providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in North America. Delta TechOps will provide engine maintenance for PW1100G-JM and PW1500G engines.
“We are very excited that Delta TechOps, a world-class MRO provider, will be joining our GTF MRO network and will be providing engine maintenance services for our GTF customers,” said Chris Calio, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. “This will become the third facility in North America supporting GTF engine MRO work, alongside the Pratt & Whitney Engine Center in Columbus, Georgia and the Pratt & Whitney facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. This agreement is a testament to Pratt & Whitney’s long-standing relationship with Delta and we look forward to expanding our relationship even further through our collaboration with Delta TechOps.”
Through the EngineWise™ platform of services, Pratt & Whitney provides operators with a variety of aftermarket services designed to provide long-term, sustainable value. Delta TechOps will join other industry leading MRO providers located around the world that deliver high quality maintenance support to GTF engine operators.
The GTF engine MRO network has grown significantly since the engine entered service with engine overhaul shops located on three continents. GTF engines will be maintained by a network of the industry’s top MRO companies, including Pratt & Whitney, MTU Aero Engines (MTU), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation (JAEC) and Lufthansa Technik (LHT). In 2016, Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Engine Center in Columbus, Georgia, USA, became the first GTF engine MRO facility to maintain Geared Turbofan engines. Pratt & Whitney’s Eagle Services Asia facility in Singapore inducted and completed its first PW1100G-JM engine overhaul earlier this year.
