A320neo Joins Sichuan Airlines Fleet

Sichuan Airlines, China’s largest all-Airbus operator, has received its newest aircraft, an Airbus A320neo powered by Pratt & Whitney’s revolutionary PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ (GTF) engines. With this latest delivery, Sichuan Airlines’ fleet now comprises of over 100 A320 family aircraft, of which more than 85 are powered by either GTF or V2500 powerplants.

“Sichuan Airlines was the first airline in China to fly our V2500 engine,” said Chris Calio, president, Commercial Engines, Pratt & Whitney. “We’re happy to continue our relationship through the GTF-powered A320neo.”

The relationship between Sichuan Airlines and Pratt & Whitney dates back to 1995. Two decades later, this relationship will continue to play an important role in the growth of Chinese aviation.

The Geared Turbofan engine has been selected by more than 80 customers in 30 countries. In-service performance of the Geared Turbofan engine has demonstrated its promised ability to reduce fuel burn by 16 percent, regulated emissions by 50 percent and noise footprint by 75 percent since entry into service in early 2016.
