ANA Becomes First Airline to Receive A321neo Powered by PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ Engine
All Nippon Airways (ANA) took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft powered by the revolutionary PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine on Sept. 7. ANA is the first airline to receive the GTF-powered A321neo.
“Our relationship with ANA dates back to Pratt & Whitney’s early days with the R-1830 Twin Wasp engine,” said Chris Calio, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. “We’ve been powering ANA for more than six decades, and we’re honored to continue that relationship.”
The GTF engine is transforming the aviation industry. The in-service performance of the engine has demonstrated its promised ability to reduce fuel burn by 16 percent, regulated emissions by 50 percent and noise footprint by 75 percent.
