Latina Style Recognizes Pratt & Whitney's Marie Robert and Hispanic Leadership Forum

Marie Robert and leaders from the UTC Hispanic Leadership Forum visited Washington D.C. to attend the Latina Style Award Ceremony. Robert was named a Latina Style Top Corporate Executive for 2016, while UTC's Hispanic Leadership Forum was recognized as one of the 15 employee resource groups of the year.

"I want to thank Pratt & Whitney, and UTC, for giving me opportunities throughout my career and for helping me reach this great accomplishment," Robert said.

Robert, senior director of Supply Chain Contracts at Pratt & Whitney, understands that diversity and inclusion is more than just a check in the box – it's a way to develop people. That's why she has been named a 2016 Latina Style Top Ten Executive.

"I feel extremely proud to have been selected. For me, it is a great honor," Robert said. "I am an executive champion for the Hispanic Leadership Forum and I take every opportunity I have to speak at their events. I find that this is a great opportunity to get my story across.

"Another area that I focus on is mentoring Latinas across Pratt & Whitney. There is tremendous Latina talent, and I want them to know that they are valued in our organization, and I want to empower them to take ownership of their career development. Sometimes Latinas, we are a bit humble. We sometimes think that you work hard and opportunities will land on your lap. I want them to take charge, own their story and advance their career in any way they can."

UTC's Hispanic Leadership Forum was also recognized by Latina Style this past year. Ramon Guzman, the president of the Hispanic Leadership Forum at Pratt & Whitney in 2016, was proud to see both Robert and the Hispanic Leadership Forum at Pratt & Whitney recognized.

"I am very proud to have an executive Latina at the company," Guzman said. "It is something very important for our employees to see a part of themselves reflected in such a high position, like the one Marie has. This lets not only our Hispanic community, but also our Latinas, know that with hard work and effort you can reach any goal that you set for yourself.

"Having Marie recognized as a top executive Latina of the year is extremely important to us, not only because she represents our Hispanic community, but we share the same Puerto Rican background, so we are more proud than ever."

The Hispanic Leadership Forum is a support network for Pratt & Whitney employees. The organization helps improve recruitment and retention, enables career development and supports Hispanic community relations. The Hispanic Leadership Forum is one of eight Employee Network Groups at Pratt & Whitney.
