Cell Inspector Follows Grandfathers' Footsteps, Makes His Own Mark at P&W

For lead cell inspector Jim Brown, working with military engines runs in the family, as his grandfathers worked at Pratt & Whitney two generations ago.

Jim Brown: Hi, my name is Jim Brown and I'm a lead inspector in the military cases cell in East Hartford Repair Operations. I grew up in Farmington, Connecticut. Both my grandfathers worked at Pratt & Whitney, so Pratt has been in our family for a long, long time.

Jim Brown: I had gone around to a few jobs in my early 20s and didn't find that niche. This opportunity came, I felt it was a chance to try and I found where I wanted to be.

Jim Brown: I worked in the overhaul facility my whole career, and F100 is what I really know. And now I am excited as we are now transitioning into overhauling F119 and F135 product as well.

Jim Brown: As a whole for our business in East Hartford, operations are getting stronger and we're growing, we're hiring people; which is something we haven't seen since the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

Jim Brown: My nephew has recently been hired at Pratt. I recommend it; I think it's such a wonderful place to work. It's been good to me for a long time and I think it's going to be here for a long time to come.
