MRO Americas: This Ain't Our First Big Data Rodeo
For the second year in a row, executives from major airlines, aircraft operators and MRO providers, attended an exclusive MRO IT Roundtable sponsored by Pratt & Whitney to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with incorporating predictive analytics into aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
The closed-door discussion focused on the challenge of data transmission to better allow analytic tools to flag problems and drive maintenance tasks.
Lynn Fraga, analytics manager, Engine Services, had a moment to provide us with her take on why Big Data is so important to MRO.
Lynn Fraga: Hi, I'm Lynn Fraga. I'm here at the MRO Americas conference in Dallas, Texas. I am really excited to be here because this is the second year in a row that Pratt & Whitney is the key sponsor for the IT roundtable.
Lynn Fraga: Pratt & Whitney chose to be the key sponsor of the Big Data round table for the second year in a row, because we feel that Big Data and adopting these strategies is not only important to Pratt & Whitney's business, but also in how we are delivering our customer service and value to our customers.
Lynn Fraga: How Pratt & Whitney is leveraging a lot of our enterprise systems and applying big data, is through several key initiatives that we have to reduce unscheduled engine removals, improve time on wing and deliver more predictable maintenance for our customers.
Lynn Fraga: Pratt & Whitney is really excited to be here again this year, not only talking to our customers but listening to our customers and how we can leverage big data strategies for mutual benefit; not only for Pratt & Whitney but for our customer's operation and value proposition.
At Pratt & Whitney, we've been leveraging big data for decades. Recently, we have prioritized the use of predictive analytics to improve our MRO business decision making process. Better data means more accurate analysis – better decisions, operational efficiencies, cost reductions and reduced risk.
