Pratt & Whitney Honors Five Engineers as Distinguished Engineers of the Year
EAST HARTFORD, CONN., FRIDAY, FEB. 26, 2016
Pratt & Whitney and the Hartford chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) honored five Distinguished Engineers of the Year during National Engineers Week, which is held the week of Feb. 22. ASME issues these awards annually to recognize and promote excellence in the field of engineering. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
"This year's honorees truly represent the innovative engineering that powers Pratt & Whitney," said Tom Prete, vice president, Engineering, Pratt & Whitney. "These five engineers deserve to be recognized for their invaluable impact on our company and the engineering field."
Pratt & Whitney's Distinguished Engineers of the Year for 2016 are Scott J. Augustine, rotating structures fellow and discipline chief, Compression Systems; Matthew Bintz, design discipline manager, Compression Systems; Amy Comer, manager, Compression Systems, Adaptive Engine Technology Development Program; Jeffrey Nordmark, manager, Control and Diagnostic Systems, 30K Next Generation Product Family; and Arnold Zandonella, Jr., manager, Mechanical Systems, Operational Commercial Engines Programs.
"The contributions made by Matt and Jeff have helped enable Pratt & Whitney's PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engine to revolutionize the commercial aviation industry. Arnie's leadership has enabled our operational commercial engine fleet to achieve an exceptional reliability and safety record," said Prete. "And, Scott and Amy have led significant advances in military aviation through their work on our F135 engine for the F-35 Lightning II and sixth generation engine development for advanced programs. They each are incredibly deserving of this honor."
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a not-for-profit organization that represents 130,000 engineers in more than 150 countries, including college students and young engineers, to senior researchers and executives.
