Pratt & Whitney Supplier Demonstrates Readiness for Production Ramp with a New Facility
Earlier this year, aerospace customers and government officials attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for Alcoa Power and Propulsion's new facility in La Porte, Indiana. The new facility provides a significant increase to Alcoa's manufacturing capabilities to support the growing aerospace industry. Among those who attended the ribbon cutting were Danny Di Perna, senior vice president, Engineering and Operations, and Sergio Loureiro, vice president, Global Supply Chain.
During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Di Perna was interviewed for a video produced by Alcoa, in which he spoke about the significance of the investment made by Alcoa to support the increasing demand for the Geared Turbofan™ family of engines and many of our other key Pratt & Whitney products. He also highlighted that the new facility, supported by key casting technologies and automation, represented a critical capacity investment necessary to support the production ramp-up.
"Through the automation and the technology investment that has been put here, we know this is going to be a great factory and this is going to support Pratt & Whitney growth for decades to come," Di Perna said.
Pratt & Whitney congratulates Alcoa on the opening of their new state of the art casting facility in La Porte, Indiana. As we prepare to significantly increase our engine production volume, the investments that we are making across our Pratt & Whitney manufacturing sites and those being made throughout our supply chain, will continue to drive our mark within the aviation industry for another 90 years and more.
