Pratt & Whitney Hosts India's Ambassador to the United States

Senior representatives from across Pratt & Whitney welcomed India's Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Arun K. Singh, at the Customer Training Center in East Hartford, Connecticut, on Thursday.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Singh learned more about the company's various engine programs and initiatives in India, as well as viewed a PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engine on display. To date, three Indian air carriers, IndiGo, GoAir and Air Costa, have placed orders for Geared Turbofan™ engines.

"We are honored to have had the opportunity to host Ambassador Singh to reinforce our longstanding relationship with India and highlight our world-class product portfolio," said Jayant Sabnis, vice president, Engineering – Module Centers, Pratt & Whitney. "India is a critically important partner for us, and we look forward to continuing to support the country's anticipated expansion in aerospace with our products and services."

Aside from commercial engines powering various fleets in India, P&W's F117 engines power India's fleet of C-17 aircraft. P&W also recently held a grand opening ceremony of its new Customer Training Center in Hyderabad. In addition, P&W has a long history of supporting several significant community efforts in India, including a partnership with the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust.

Following his Pratt & Whitney visit, the ambassador was the featured speaker at a Pratt & Whitney/UTC-sponsored World Affairs Council event in Hartford, Connecticut. During the event, the ambassador spoke on the importance of U.S.-India relations and the strategic possibilities the partnership could hold for the future.
