Pratt & Whitney Employees Demonstrate Commitment to Environment with Source to Sea River Cleanup

Approximately 25 Pratt & Whitney employees, friends and family members came together last weekend to demonstrate the company's commitment to the environment by cleaning sections of the Connecticut River near Pratt & Whitney's Middletown, Connecticut, facility.

The Source to Sea Cleanup event, hosted annually by the Connecticut River Watershed Council, focuses on maintaining nearly 140 miles of riverfront in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. Pratt & Whitney was a lead sponsor of this year's event, during which employee volunteers removed more than 10 bags of trash and more than 10 tires on both sides of the river in and around Middletown.

"Pratt & Whitney is proud to support environmental initiatives in the areas where our employees work and live," said Mary Anne Cannon, vice president, Environment, Health & Safety. "Partnering with Source to Sea Cleanup is another example of our company's long-standing commitment to helping preserve the environment through sustainable products, operations and initiatives."

According to Alicea Charamut, the Connecticut River Watershed Council's lower river steward, volunteers recover approximately 40 tons of trash each year during the Source to Sea Cleanup.
