Boyer Featured as Expert Panelist at SpeedNews Aerospace Additive Manufacturing Briefings

Jesse Boyer, newly appointed fellow for Additive Manufacturing, recently represented Pratt & Whitney at the company's first ever SpeedNews Aerospace Additive Manufacturing Briefings appearance, the day prior to the fourth annual Aerospace Manufacturing Conference in Los Angeles. As a guest panelist in "Case Studies: Initiatives from the Front Lines," Boyer quoted former President Steve Finger in pointing out that every advance in aviation has followed an advance in propulsion technology, and that innovation is at the core of Pratt & Whitney's identity.

This is especially true with the latest Geared Turbofan™ (GTF) PurePower® engine platform architecture, Boyer said. He noted that Pratt & Whitney, a leader in additive manufacturing since the 1980s, has introduced production additive manufactured parts into its game-changing engine, enhancing performance with double-digit improvements not just through architecture but also through the use of materials technology.

The SpeedNews briefings focused on production and certification opportunities and challenges, rather than technical details of various additive manufacturing technologies, and were designed to equip aerospace leaders with necessary information for various business decisions they must make to address their own additive manufacturing plans and to get a perspective on how the additive manufacturing supply chain is evolving.
