Pratt & Whitney Statement on Reports of Flight Test Incident at Mirabel
Today, there were reports of an incident with a Pratt & Whitney test flight from our Mirabel Aerospace Centre, in Canada. We did experience a minor anomaly with a test engine during flight testing. The engine was shut down as a precaution. Examination of the engine revealed that there was no apparent damage and we expect to run it again in the next day or two. Minor anomalies such as this are common in flight test. Early reports in the media of a fire on the engine were inaccurate. As a matter of policy, and for proprietary reasons, we do not reveal which engine was being tested.
