Quality Scholarship Students Talk About P&W's People, Pride and Power

Pratt & Whitney and Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their partnership on a Quality Scholarship Program. At an event last month, students from CCSU spoke about the quality scholarship program, their internship experience at Pratt & Whitney and how this opportunity has changed their career paths and, more importantly, their lives.

When students were asked what they thought of when they heard "Pratt & Whitney," their eyes lit up. "When I think of Pratt & Whitney, I think of people, pride and power," said Mickey Perez, the first woman scholarship recipient in the CCSU Quality Program. "Pratt & Whitney has the most amazing people. There is pride in this organization, they love being here and love knowing that what they do makes a difference."

"The most important thing I'll take away from this experience is how much a passion for engineering affects what you do in the long run for a career. I've wanted to be an engineer since I was in high school," said Adrian Dunkley, a CCSU scholarship student who graduated and was recently hired by P&W's Quality Organization.

"We need trained, professional quality engineers and this program supports this goal as we continue to develop a talented workforce for our company."

The Quality Scholarship Program is a two-year program designed to better prepare students for a career within the aerospace quality engineering field. The program offers academic advisement, student mentoring and work experience.
