UTC Recognized by Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association

At a recent ceremony, United Technologies was recognized by the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA) with a "Corporate Award" for outstanding support of legal diversity events and initiatives. Joe Santos, vice president and general counsel, Pratt & Whitney, accepted the award on UTC's behalf.

"I am very proud to receive this recognition," Santos said. "United Technologies does a lot to support diversity initiatives. It is wonderful to be recognized for it."

In his acceptance remarks, Santos highlighted UTC's long history of embracing diverse thinking to help it serve customers and support local communities where the company conducts business and has operations.

"United Technologies was one of the original members of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity," Santos said. "We fund scholarships and support internships that give minority law students opportunities to be mentored and learn what in-house legal practice is all about. We are honored to be recognized for these initiatives."

The CHBA organization comprises attorneys, law students and paralegal members, as well as professors and members of the judiciary. It focuses on enhancing professional opportunities for Hispanic attorneys, serving as mentors to new lawyers and law students, and helping private and public legal employers achieve their diversity goals.
