Chris Kmetz is vice president, Quality, for Pratt & Whitney. In this role, Chris leads all aspects of quality for Pratt & Whitney globally.

Chris has more than 30 years of engineering and technology leadership experience, with over 20 years at Pratt & Whitney. In his previous time with the company, Chris led the design, development and initial certification of the GTF engine as the program’s chief engineer. He also served as vice president, Engineering, Module Centers, where he led a team of engineers, in partnership with Operations, to drive accountability and performance from design to engine delivery, as well as aftermarket support for all customers.

Chris joined Carrier Corporation in 2020 as chief technology officer and senior vice president, Engineering. While at Carrier, he led the company’s efforts in research, development and technology, overseeing a global network of engineers and driving innovation and product development to best serve Carrier’s customers with differentiated products.

Most recently, Chris launched an entrepreneurial career journey by forming an engineering consulting company, where he served as a global strategic and technical advisor primarily focused on the technical aspects of turbomachinery, aircraft propulsion and organizational excellence.

Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Arizona State University. He holds several patents and is a recipient of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers Career Achievement Award. Chris served on the Graduate Studies and Research Advisory Committee at the University of Notre Dame through 2021 and previously served on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Research and Development Advisory Committee for Aircraft Safety.
