“Supportive, inclusive and proud.” These are the words Quiles-Fernan uses to describe the people of Pratt & Whitney. He knew he wanted a full-time role at Pratt & Whitney after completing an internship, where he saw first-hand how company leaders support their employees’ personal and professional growth. Quiles-Fernan’s team leaders encouraged him to explore the various programs offered through Pratt & Whitney, specifically community-related initiatives.

“When I was an intern, I participated in a program called Foodshare,” says Quiles-Fernan. “I volunteered with other employees and packaged about 4,000 pounds of meat that would be distributed to people experiencing food insecurity. Having this experience as an intern really helped me understand how Pratt & Whitney served the community and how as an employee, I am making a difference in my own community.”

Since then, Quiles-Fernan has joined one of Pratt & Whitney’s nine Employee Resource Groups (ERG), and today he sits on the Communications board of RTXHOLA. Participating in this ERG allows Quiles-Fernan to meet others with similar backgrounds, giving him a deeper sense of inclusion and connection to his colleagues.

Quiles-Fernan recognizes working for a big company that has a direct impact on an entire industry can be overwhelming – but more importantly, it’s something to be proud of. “The pride comes from working with such understanding leaders and knowing they will do anything to see you succeed.”

Every employee at Pratt & Whitney has an important role in developing and contributing to the long-term vision of aviation. If you believe it’s your responsibility to drive positive change while advancing the future of flight – join us. You’ll fit right in.

Meet Robert: Quality Engineering Development Program Associate

Meet Robert Quiles-Fernan, Quality Engineering Development Program Associate.  He prefers coffee over tea and truffle fries over curly fries. When it comes to innovation versus status quo – it’s innovation without hesitation.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico and now living in Connecticut, Quiles-Fernan is approaching his one-year anniversary with Pratt & Whitney. In his role, he works on the development of safety and quality standards for engine blade inspection, ensuring the company’s inspection methods are best in the industry.
