Meet Imane: Engineering to change the world

Meet Imane El Karafi, senior manager global manufacturing, who has been with the company for twelve years. She considers herself a night owl over being an early bird and would rather be exploring instead of relaxing.

Seeing her hard work come to life in the skies above is one of her favorite parts about working at Pratt & Whitney. She enjoys taking on intricate challenges and contributing to the technological advancements in the aviation industry.

“When I first started at Pratt & Whitney Canada, I didn't know that I would be given so many opportunities and that I would be able to explore and expand my capabilities and capacity beyond just my work in the office. That’s what I love about this place; they trust you with complex problems and they trust your intelligence, your initiative, dedication, and passion to find the solution and contribute to the solution with teams who always go above and beyond.”

Her family, especially her two daughters, motivate her to excel in her career as an engineer and she hopes to leave a lasting impression on the world by contributing to the vision and roadmap of Pratt & Whitney.

“Contributing to a new product like the PW800 turbofan that powers a platform that will fly for years and years from now, that's for me is how I can make a difference and leave a legacy. Not all companies can change the world, but at Pratt & Whitney, we can.”

Imane is proud to be part of the RTXWISE/Women’s Leadership Committee because the employee resource group not only promotes diversity and inclusion, but takes action too.

“For me, it's important to help other women succeed, whatever success means for them. Pratt & Whitney provides the resources and tools for women to advance, develop and inspire other women.”
