PT6 E-Series™ Engine Takes AvWeek’s Top Propulsion Award in Business Aviation

For the second consecutive year, a standard-breaking Pratt & Whitney engine has been selected as the Laureate in the Business Aviation – Propulsion category in Aviation Week Network’s Annual Laureate Awards. Pratt & Whitney was recognized for its revolutionary PT6 E-Series™ engine, at Aviation Week Network’s Annual Laureate Awards event held virtually October 19.  In last year’s awards, the PW800 engine also took the top spot in the Business Aviation – Propulsion category.

The PT6 E-Series™ engine is the newest member of the iconic PT6 family. The engine’s advanced technology includes the first dual-channel integrated electronic propeller and engine control system in the General Aviation turboprop market.

The advanced technology behind the PT6 E-Series™ engine provides a more intuitive way of flying with simplified operations. At the push of a button, the pilot can start and stop the engine while being protected against hot and hung starts. The single lever and integrated electronic propeller and engine control system allows precise engine control by constantly monitoring temperature and torque to provide optimal engine power and performance throughout all phases of flight.

The PT6 E-Series engine is the product of Pratt & Whitney’s dedication to safety, quality and reliability – the same focus that has made the PT6 General Aviation’s number one engine for many different missions around the world.

Three outstanding aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney were also given Laureate Awards with two of the aircraft receiving Grand Laureates:

  • Laureate Award for Business Aviation – Platform: Gulfstream G500/G600 (PW800 engine),
  • Laureate Award for Best New Product –Defense: C-390 Millennium (V2500 engine),
  • Laureate Award for Commercial Aviation – Platform: Airbus A321LR (PW1100G-JM engine).
