Leading the Way in Engine Innovation
Today, we are proud to introduce the newest member of the PT6 engine family: the PT6 E-Series™ engine here in Las Vegas at the NBAA show. Building upon our iconic PT6 engine family, the PT6 E-Series™ engine is the first turboprop engine in general aviation to offer a dual-channel integrated electronic propeller and engine control system.
Our long-time customer, Pilatus, also unveiled their new PC-12 NGX aircraft which we are proud to power with our newest engine. The PC-12 NGX and the PT6 E-Series™ mark a new chapter in the long history that Pilatus and Pratt & Whitney Canada have written together over the last 50 years.
The PT6 engine is a remarkable aviation success story, and our dedication to safety, quality and reliability continues to make the PT6 the engine of choice in General Aviation. Our focus on innovation has never stopped, and has allowed us to introduce new materials and technology giving it more power, greater efficiency and better environmental performance. In the last ten years alone, we’ve made over 120 enhancements to the engine. This has led the PT6 to grow with 40% more power and 20% better fuel efficiency.
Our customers count on the PT6 engine to get them home at the end of every mission. The PT6 keeps them productive and efficient. And now, we’re making their experience even better.
There are four major areas of innovation within the new PT6 E-Series™ engine:
- A dual-channel integrated electronic propeller and engine control system – the first turboprop engine in the general aviation market with this feature
- A power increase of up to 10% due to the latest generation of turbine materials and design providing quicker climb and greater speed
- Digital connectivity which monitors more than 100 engine parameters to maximize engine efficiency and monitor engine performance and health, enabling predictive analytics and proactive, personalized support
- An enhanced service experience with simplified maintenance, increased availability as well as a new and improved Eagle Service™ Plan
This newest addition to the PT6 family was made possible thanks to hundreds of thousands of hours of development work by the generations of Pratt & Whitney Canada employees who have paved the way for this innovation by dedicating their careers to developing, building and servicing our iconic PT6 engine.
It is this rich heritage and unrelenting focus on quality and innovation that has led us to this exciting announcement today – another major milestone for the PT6 engine family.
