R-985 Wasp Jr.

 

 

A smaller radial piston engine, the Wasp Jr., followed the Hornet into production. Rated at 300 horsepower, it was designed for light transports, trainers, sport aircraft and helicopters. More than 39,000 engines were produced between 1929 and 1953.
