Pratt & Whitney Global Material Solutions (GMS) is an industry-revolutionizing initiative offering CFM56®-3 engine operators an OEM quality, competitively priced alternative in new engine parts. GMS is a natural extension of Pratt & Whitney’s extensive maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities. Building on the existing Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners network, GMS delivers customers a choice in gas-path and life-limited parts for CFM56®-3 engines. For the first time ever, operators will have a comprehensive and dependable alternative in new CFM56® engine materials.

Capabilities

The Global Material Solutions (GMS) part portfolio includes 19 life-limited parts (LLPs) for the CFM56®-3 engine as well as gas-path parts. All GMS parts are fully interchangeable with original CFM56® engine hardware, and they are designed and validated using Pratt & Whitney’s OEM standards. Each GMS life limited part is certified under an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) which means each GMS LLP meets all regulations required of a type certificate holder.  Moreover each LLP is certified with FAA Chapter 5 life limits equal to the original type certificate holder. The GMS STCs are the first and only FAA certifications ever granted for alternative LLPs.

At Pratt & Whitney, we take an OEMRO® approach with our customers’ engines. What does that mean? We design, manufacture and support our own original equipment, and we provide service and parts for both our own and our competitors’ engines. In addition to these new fully interchangeable engine parts, GMS will provide customers with comprehensive fleet management and customized maintenance service programs.
